Holiday House Bazaar at First United Methodist Church Grand Junction is celebrating its 20th year this year, beginning life as a craft fair under the leadership of Darlene Haining who had ample crafting experience, having owned a craft supply business. Ever since then the United Methodist Women of FUMCGJ have spent hours building, gluing, decorating, painting and creating original Fall and Christmas crafts for the Bazaar. UMW Crafting Angels have met weekly through the year to be able to bring this highly anticipated and well-attended event to the Grand Valley. Its popularity is illustrated by over $230,000 earned over the last two decades, ALL of which goes to missions, locally and internationally, through the UMW channels of giving. Camp Good Grief, Homeward Bound, Community Food Bank, Migrant and Child Services and McCurdy Ministries are among the many great organizations the Holiday House income has gone to support.
The year 2020 has brought new things, and with it, exciting opportunities for the Holiday House Bazaar. We are ALL ONLINE this year! Our usual quality crafts will all be offered for sale on our new website, Friday November 6 and Saturday November 7. They will be available for pickup on Sunday afternoon, November 8 and Monday evening, November 9. Our crafts will be ready to be reviewed online October 18 through the first day of the sale, so you can plan your strategy to shop. We will not be selling food, canned or baked, at this time, due to health restrictions. But we have over 100 items of all kinds – ornaments, indoor décor, outdoor décor, wreaths, wooden Santas and snowmen, tea towels – everything you know and love about our Bazaars!
